Hankook Tire, one of the world’s leading tire manufacturers, operates a state-of-the-art production facility in Clarksville, Tennessee, serving as its flagship plant in North America. As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance capacity and efficiency, Hankook undertook a major expansion and refinement of structural systems across a vast 940,000-square-foot footprint, encompassing 10 distinct building types.
Our structural engineering team provided critical design support and construction-phase coordination for the project. Scope included the comprehensive review and response to structural RFIs, ensuring that field inquiries were addressed accurately and efficiently to maintain project momentum. We also conducted detailed reviews of structural steel framing shop drawings, as well as roof joist, deck, and panel shop drawings, verifying compliance with design intent and applicable codes.
In parallel, we performed a full review of concrete shop drawings for both foundations and vertical walls, including evaluation of all reinforcement drawings to confirm consistency with structural load paths and construction standards. Throughout construction, we offered on-demand assistance for field condition structural plan adjustments, providing rapid design modifications and stamped structural detail sheets where required.
By maintaining close collaboration with contractors, specialty engineers, and on-site teams, we ensured that structural challenges were addressed proactively. Our contributions supported the successful execution of one of the largest industrial expansions in the region—bolstering Hankook’s position as a high-efficiency manufacturer in the global tire market.
