Mando America Corporation is a global leader in automotive parts manufacturing, producing advanced braking, steering, and suspension systems for top-tier automakers. Its Georgia casting plant serves as a key facility in the company’s North American operations, supporting high-volume, precision component production. As part of its strategic expansion, Mando initiated a major addition to its casting plant to increase operational capacity and streamline logistics.
Our team led the structural design and documentation for a 120,000-square-foot addition to the existing casting plant, as well as a separate 20,000-square-foot storage building. The new casting plant wing was developed as a mirrored layout of the current facility with several strategic updates, including minor modifications to the existing foundation system, adjusted concrete pit locations and dimensions, and roof height changes to accommodate new equipment and functional requirements.
Key elements of the expansion scope included the addition of exterior concrete retaining walls adjacent to the existing loading dock and office areas, new loading docks at auxiliary buildings, and concrete pads for a new exterior tank farm. Structural upgrades within the existing casting plant involved the modification of the lateral bracing system, and column adjustments or removals to extend the crane runway effectively. Additionally, we designed and incorporated two new monitoring offices within the expanded footprint to improve plant oversight and operations.
For both the casting plant and the new storage building, we prepared detailed structural construction specifications, and provided ongoing revisions and plan updates in response to county plan review feedback, ensuring timely compliance and approval.
With integrated structural solutions and regulatory coordination, our work has enabled Mando to significantly scale its operations while maintaining safety, efficiency, and structural integrity across its expanded Georgia manufacturing campus.
